DCAD encourages residential students to be part of its downtown urban campus. DCAD offers apartment style accommodations in the Saville Apartments directly across the street from studio and academic facilities at 600 North Market Street.

A distinctive part of DCAD's downtown urban campus, the Saville offers students the convenience of a central location in luxury apartments at reasonable rates. Each apartment is unique; some are duplexes, while others have private gardens. Each student is provided with a bed, drawing table and stool. DCAD's Office of Student Services assists in matching compatible roommates and helps residents coordinate plans for other furnishings.

DCAD provides a Resident Assistant on each floor. Each apartment has a telephone-based intercom to the vestibule while a video-based visual identification system is available through the cable television connection. The building is fully equipped with sprinkler systems, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in each unit.

All units are air-conditioned with oversized windows. Additional features in each apartment include a washer, dryer, dishwasher and microwave oven.

Student life at DCAD is closely linked to the life of Wilmington and the many cultural and professional resources of the region. The Office of Student Services is responsible for overseeing the general welfare of students, offering support services and for planning both recreational and educational activities. Among the many support services offered are career counseling, health and safety education and personal counseling. Throughout the year, the office sponsors a variety of educational, social and cultural activities to strengthen the knowledge, experience and life of the DCAD community. A Student Council facilitates participation and input from the student body.
