The Edgar A. Thronson Library is a new state-of-the-art information resource center with a collection of over 9,000 art books and audio-visual materials, periodicals, as well as subscription-based electronic research databases, internet access stations and a library catalog accessible via the internet at www.dcad.edu/library.
Holdings include over 9,000 books, 76 periodical subscriptions plus back issues, and over 700 audio-visual materials (videotapes, DVDs and CDs). The Library is staffed by an experienced professional art librarian who provides reference assistance, in-class instruction and works with students individually to assist them in researching topics for coursework.
The Library collection focuses primarily on the curriculum, with strong emphasis on fine arts, illustration, graphic design, animation, photography and art history as well as other areas directly related to coursework. The Library participates in a national inter-library loan network, and can borrow materials for students from almost anywhere in the United States. DCAD students also have access to borrow from nearby collections at the Wilmington Public Library, Delaware Technical Community College, the Delaware Art Museum and the University of Delaware.
