Tuition & Fees
An important advantage of DCAD is its tuition, which is considerably lower than other independent colleges of art and design. This has been made possible by the generous support of the City of Wilmington. Students who plan a four-year BFA curriculum may achieve a significant savings by completing their first two years of study at DCAD and completing their final two years at another distinguished art and design school.
Academic Technology Fee: $435/semester
Student Activities Fee: $395/semester
Housing Deposit*: $200
Student Housing (Double, Triple or Quad): $4,090/semester
Resident Meal Plan: $2,135/semester
Commuter Meal Plan (optional): $350/semester
*The Housing Deposit is one-time fee; refundable at the time of departure.
Cost per credit: $1,040

Mandatory accident insurance: $60/year
DCAD offers an optional 14-week summer semester, which is billed separately from the items listed above. Housing also is available during the summer, should students need it.
Students purchase the supplies needed for class work. This expense, while highly variable depending on personal preference, is estimated per student as:
Books (first-year students): $350
Art Kit (first-year students): $750
3-D supplies per semester: $140
Foundations year: Students purchase the preassembled DCAD Art Kit, which supplies them with most of their needs. Based on students’ personal use, some items may need to be replenished and can be found at Jerry’s Artarama.
Second year: Each major has unique art material requirements and/or laptop and software recommendations.
All tuition and fees are payable in accordance with the College’s published due dates, unless the student is participating in the Tuition Installment Payment Plan (see below). Payment may be made with cash, check, credit card or money order. Students are urged to make any necessary financial arrangements (including financial aid) well in advance of the due dates. All outstanding balances must be remitted by the scheduled dates. Failure to meet financial obligations may result in dismissal from the College. Students who are accepted into the Associate of Fine Arts Degree Program after the statement billing date need to contact the Bursar’s Office at 302.622.8867 ext. 102 to make financial arrangements before their registration can be approved.

This policy is subject to change.
DCAD offers a monthly payment plan. Payments begin August 1 for the academic year and are subject to a $25 fee per semester. Students interested in the payment plan should call the Bursar’s Office at 302.622.8867 ext. 102 for more information.
