Emily Mattingly earned a Ph.D. in English at the University of California, Riverside. She is currently revising her dissertation into a book manuscript, Queer Developments: The Politics of Reimagining Age. This project examines how twentieth-century and contemporary American artists, writers, and filmmakers reimagine childhood to construct radical visions of aging. 

Prior to teaching in DCAD's Liberal Arts program, Emily worked as a researcher, instructor, and administrator at several universities and colleges. She has won numerous awards for her teaching and research excellence. 

Emily earned a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies and a M.A. in Cultural and Literary Studies from Kansas State University.
