Spend Sundays at DCAD this Fall for 'Arts & Crafternoons'

All makers, crafters and creative are invited this fall to spend a few Sunday hours at DCAD for “Arts & Crafternoons.” This fall, the Delaware College of Art and Design will launch a new series devoted to make-and-take activities designed to inspire creativity. Take one, two, or all six. Join artists and designers in an artistic environment and come prepared to experiment while having fun.
 
The fall schedule includes: Fun with Found Objects, September 23; Mixed Media Mash-Up, September 30; Altered Book Workshop, October 14; The Painterly Print: Monotype Workshop, November 4; and Hand-Crafted Holiday Ornaments, November 18.

Sunday, September 23, enjoy Fun with Found Objects from 10 AM – 4 PM. Not comfortable with drawing and painting just yet but would still like to express yourself creatively? Make art pieces from objects you find around your home, office, school and neighborhood. A variety of materials will be introduced along with the appropriate tools, adhesives and applications for transforming your junk into aesthetically pleasing works of art. Tuition is $75.

Sunday, September 30, enjoy Mixed Media Mash-Up from 1 – 4  PM. What can you do with old ticket stubs, maps, ribbon, paint, ink, found objects, wax, tape and more? Create a beautiful, poetic or mysterious mixed media mash up in 2-D or 3-D and amaze yourself with new ways to create. Tuition is $40.

Altered Book Workshop will be offered Sunday, October 14, from 1 – 4 p.m. Combine painting, collage, stamping, transfer techniques, photomontage and recycled books to create an intriguing new work of art. Tuition is $40.

Sunday, November 4, take The Painterly Print: Monotype Workshop from 1 – 4 p.m. Using a tabletop press, explore and create one-of-a-kind prints with Plexiglas, ink, found objects and an assortment of papers. Explore color, textures and collage in a direct and spontaneous way. This technique lends itself to improvisation and is suitable for all ages and levels of artistic ability. Tuition is $40.

Make Hand-Crafted Holiday Ornaments Sunday, November 18, from 1 – 3 p.m. Add texture, color and visual interest to your table or tree with no-sew holiday ornaments. Intricate, geometric and unexpected – learn the techniques to use fabric   remnants and turn them into ornaments. Personalize your holiday décor or make easy and awesome gifts for others. Tuition is $30.

The DCAD Continuing Education Program offers courses in the areas of Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, Interior Design, Jewelry Design, Photography and Young Artists for high school students.
