Whole campus involved in Spirit Week 2012
October 19th 2012
DCAD's annual Spirit Week will be held the week of October 22 to October 26 with events planned each day for students, faculty and staff members.
Second-year graphic design and illustration majors kicked off the festivities by designing posters in their Typography I classes, advertising the nature of the week and its various events. First place went to Sam Ford, second place went to Sarah Berry, third place went to Christina Bernhardt and honorable mentions were awarded to Chelsea Heitzman and Matthew Young. The winning posters are currently hanging in the Toni & Stuart B. Young Gallery.
DCAD's Spirit Week events will include as follows:
Monday, October 22, pumpkins will be available in the "pumpkin patch" set in the Toni & Stuart B. Young Gallery for students to select and take to carve, paint and/or decorate and return their designs for judging on Wednesday.
Tuesday, October 23, students will use their creativity in “Voo Doo U Love?” to be held during lunch in the 707 Atrium.
Wednesday, October 24, entries for the pumpkin carving/decorating/painting contest will be due and prizes will be awarded at Thursday's costume parade.
Thursday, October 25, the highlight of the week will take place at lunchtime in the 707 Atrium. Students are invited to dress in their finest costumes and walk the runway before fellow classmates, professors and DCAD staff. Prizes will be awarded. A surprise staff costume will be revealed and pizza will be served.
Friday, October 26, DCAD staff members will welcome trick-or-treaters to their offices for Sweets in the Suites.
