The Delaware College of Art and Design was founded in 1997 through a creative partnership between New York City's Pratt Institute and the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C., and is Delaware's first and only professional art and design college. Since its founding, DCAD has graduated more than 1,000 developing artists and designers while serving as an anchor institution for the redevelopment of downtown Wilmington.

The College is celebrating its 20 years in downtown Wilmington throughout the 2017-18 academic term. The highlight of this observance will be the "DCAD@20" Art Exhibition and Auction, running September 8 through October 15 in the College's Toni & Stuart B. Young Gallery, and the DCAD@20 Scholarship Gala, which will be held in early 2018, also at 600 N. Market St.

The exhibition was curated by Kelicia Pitts, a member of DCAD's Admissions Team, and DCAD alumna Sabrina Hairston (Class of 2013) assisted in hanging the show. All of the artwork is available for purchase online here, with 50 percent of the sale price supporting DCAD's scholarship fund and the other 50 percent going to the artist. The online auction will close to bids on Monday, October 16.
