Painting Values: Master Studies
DCAD Instructor, Aki Tori

Contribute to a collaborative painting project inspired by the artist Wayne Thiebaud. Students will be creating and painting separate works that will be re-assembled into a mural inspired by his work.  Through this project students will explore Thiebaud’s painting and his technique; understand color and connection to value (dark - light); and produce collaborative artwork.

Experimental Drawing
DCAD Alumnus/Instructor, Ellen Durkan
1PM – 4PM

In this workshop participants will combine naturalistic drawing approaches with a surrealist twist. We will use a variety of materials to draw objects from life and morph them into expressionistic forms. Class exercises include engaging in group drawing sessions popularized during the Dada era; utilizing materials like glass, plastic, feathers, string, sponges, and more; and using cross-contour lines to create a more abstract still life.

DCAD alumni have worked on Cartoon Network's Superjail, Wonder Pets on Nickelodeon, and animated pieces for the Animal Collective's "Brotherhood" music video. They have worked at The Center for Art in Wood and Museum of Contemporary Photography, Disney Interactive Media Group, Stag and Hare, Clive Davis Mann, Slate, Discover Care and Saatchi & Saatchi. To celebrate this amazing group, DCAD has started to grow the DCAD Alumni Association and host events just for alumni. The College would like to hear about what is happening with alumni — school, jobs, travel, families, etc. — and also be updated when contact info changes. To contact DCAD with your alumni news or hear about what's happening at 600 N. Market Street, contact Sara Ganter, Director of Development, at
