Alumni Exhibition

DCAD’s more than 500 alumni were asked to send pieces of their latest works. The show included work from about 90 alumni and ranged from paintings to mixed media, animated films and sculptures made of everything from clay to fingernails.

Still Moving: Independent Animation

Natural Attraction: Nature-Inspired Art
October 7, 2011 - November 6, 2011

Work by DCAD students will be featured at the Delaware Museum of Natural History in a unique collaborative exhibition. All of the pieces selected for the exhibition will be inspired by the natural world. The Museum is located at 4840 Kennett Pike, Wilmington. An opening reception will be held Friday, October 7, 5-9 p.m. at the Museum.

Handmade: The Process of Sculpture
November 4, 2011 - January 13, 2012

This year's annual visiting exhibition will feature the process and creation of sculpture through the work of six established artists: Dennis Beach, Bob Bickey, Elizabeth Duffy, Erica Loustau, David Meyer, and Victor Spinski. This exhibition is curated by DCAD faculty members Stan Smokler and Connie Simon. An opening reception will be held Friday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Photo-Lettering: Fanatically Fabricated Alphabets for the Future
November 2, 2012 - January 11, 2013

A new exhibition opening November 2, 2012, through a collaboration with House Industries deftly demonstrates the relevance of traditional photographic lettering reproduction in a contemporary context. By adroitly juxtaposing traditional materials and processes with contemporary applications, Photo-Lettering: Fanatically Fabricated Alphabets for the Future is less a history lesson and more a lesson of how to learn from history.

Annual Student Exhibition
February 1, 2013 - February 22, 2013

Each year, DCAD faculty select the best representations of student work to be displayed as a glimpse into the talent of the student body, and a showing of the varied projects that each major undertakes: from photographs, to illustration projects; and from 3-dimensional sculptures, to animation shorts. This opening is also coupled with an awards ceremony, where DCAD’s Deans List students are publicly recognized for their academic achievements.

Fourth Annual High School Exhibition
March 14, 2013 - March 22, 2013

Each spring, DCAD holds a showing of some of the best high school artwork and our 2011/12 exhibition drew 137 submissions that represented 36 high schools in six states and one submission from Puerto Rico. As a part of this public show, DCAD takes the opportunity to award scholarships to a select number of the most promising high school artists that participate in the exhibition.

Annual Continuing Education Exhibition
April 5, 2013 - April 26, 2013

The Continuing Education Program offers courses open to the community and certificate programs in Art and Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Photography, and Web Design, and a Combined Web and Graphic Design Certificate. All students and faculty in the Continuing Education Program are invited to participate in the annual exhibition.
