707 North King Street

DCAD expanded its on-campus housing in Fall 2012 with the addition of the 707 North King Street Residence Hall.

While each unit in 707 North King Street has unique features, all are studio-style, divided into two areas, offering separate bedroom space and studio work space. Each unit also contains a full bathroom, which features marble tile and countertops. A granite counter with working sink is also located within the unit.

Within the 707 building, residents can find the 707 Cafe' on the first floor, lounge space, a free laundry facility, and the offices of the Student Services staff where packages can be picked up. The dining area, or atrium, located in the main area of the building offers a media wall with free WiFi and space for socializing as well as studying.

Residential amenities of the 707 include:

  • Individual restroom per unit
  • Individually climate-controlled with air conditioning and heating
  • Regular twin bed
  • Closet or wardrobe space
  • Drafting table and artists’ stool
  • Marble countertops and food preparation area

The building is most recently known as the Brandywine Suites Hotel, part of the Clarion Hotels group. To note, the Market Street side of the property was home to the landmark Braunstein’s Department Store.

As of August 2013, Jerry's Artarama, a family-owned and operated art supply house offering discount prices, artist resources and hospitality, opened in 704 N. Market Street, making it a prime destination for artists and students alike.  Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, this is Jerry’s Artarama's 17th retail store, in addition to its significant online presence. DCAD is pleased to offer its students and the community alike the luxury of having a full-service national art supply store on campus.
