graphic design graduate alexis peabody earns APHA fellowship

Graphic design graduate Alexis “Lexi” Peabody has been named a 2019 Michael P. Denker Fellow by the Chesapeake Chapter of the American Printing History Association. The DCAD Class of 2019 member is the youngest-ever Denker Fellow, as the honor typically goes to graduate students working toward their master’s or doctoral degrees rather than to undergraduates completing associate’s degrees. She was selected after applying under the guidance of DCAD liberal arts area coordinator Casey Smith, who is a member of the APHA Chesapeake Chapter. As a Denker Fellow, Lexi has been provided with a one-year membership to the APHA and the Chesapeake Chapter so that she may participate in lectures, exhibitions and other activities with the letterpress printers, bibliophiles, collectors, librarians and other printing history experts who are fellow members. In addition, during an event at the Library of Congress this fall, she will give a presentation about how her growing understanding of traditional methods of printing and letterpress can inform her future work in the graphic design field.
