liberal arts ac visits uganda on apexart fellowship

Liberal arts area coordinator Casey Smith left for Kampala, Uganda, on May 29 to take part in an apexart Fellowship. This alternative educational program invites creative individuals to leave their familiar surroundings for a month-long stay in another country, providing new sources of inspiration through exposure to new cultures, interests and experiences. “Every day I have two or three official appointments that appear on my itinerary, but all of the other ‘everyday life’ experiences are just as significant,” he writes in his online apexart Fellow Journal. “Maybe it’s a conversation with a taxi driver, a peculiar and fascinating observation about schoolchildren’s uniforms, the sounds and smells on the streets and in the markets, or countless other things. I want to respect these seemingly minor things, because they may turn out to be major revelations.” More of Casey’s apexart Fellow Journal may be viewed by clicking here.
